Macaulay Law Offices: Smart. Caring. Precise.
Attorney Jennifer Macaulay grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and admits she remains a Packers fan to this day. She moved to Bloomington, Minnesota, as a high school freshman and graduated from Jefferson High School. From there, she attended college at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a BA in political science and a BS in environmental science, graduating with honors. After a few years working as a credit manager at a large local law firm, she turned to law school and earned her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, graduating cum laude. She has lived in St. Paul ever since law school and enjoys practicing law from her unique office building, which is a Victorian house-turned office building on historic Grand Avenue in St. Paul.
Her Philosophy: Comfort For You And Value For Your Legal Services
At Macaulay Law Offices, we believe in providing only the precise services that you need, rather than bundling unnecessary services and having people pay for what they don’t need, like other divorce attorneys often do. We also believe in charging flat fees for many services. Most other attorneys won’t do this, but we will. It provides better value for our clients. We cut out as much fluff as we can so we can focus solely on our clients.
“Why did I go into the law? My father raised us all to have a skill. He was very adamant about this. Being a lawyer was a skill, and I’m good at it. I am laser-focused on my clients’ legal matters and always direct about what’s involved.” — Attorney Jennifer Macaulay
Professor Of Legal Writing For Over 15 Years
In addition to practicing law since 2002, Jennifer Macaulay has been a sought-after speaker and popular adjunct-associate professor of legal writing at the University of Minnesota Law School for over 15 years. Legal writing is a critical skill for all areas of law, but especially for writing appeals and putting together important memoranda and briefs to support your family law or criminal law case. She enjoys teaching because it keeps her writing skills keen and up to date. Her writing skills make her a formidable opponent in litigation and appeals. Many lawyers will shy away from an opportunity to brief an issue. But Jennifer’s skills shine when written legal advocacy is needed.
Meet Our Therapy Dog Deuce
Jennifer and her husband have a therapy dog, trained and licensed through The Canine Coach! and Therapy Dogs International. After rescuing their dog from the Humane Society, they named him William Rudyard Kipling Macaulay-Korstad, II, but they call him Deuce for short. Deuce is a mixed breed, including Shih Tzu, Terrier, Chinese Crested and Fox Terrier. Jennifer’s husband Jason Korstad is Deuce’s primary handler and takes Deuce to schools where he works with kids who can benefit from some extra support through the nonprofit organization Canine Inspired Change.
Deuce also does reading programs at public libraries where kids read to Deuce. Jennifer said this is so important because when kids read to adults they know they’re being critiqued. But when kids read to Deuce, it’s a much more positive experience. Deuce also visits hospitals and nursing homes to give cuddles and kisses to anyone who would like them.
